Launching SHINE ☀️

Launching SHINE ☀️

After the launch of Rise2Thrive last week, we’re doubly excited to share with you that we’ve been successful in securing another new partnership programme, SHINE (Supporting Health Interventions, Neurodiversity, and Employment), which will operate across East Riding! SHINE is funded via the Government’s UKSPF fund and distributed through The East Riding of Yorkshire’s Council.

What is SHINE?

Building off the success of our former Thriving at Work programme, which was aimed specifically at supporting individuals who were neurodiverse, disabled, or had mental/physical health challenges, SHINE will also work specifically with economically inactive participants facing these barriers.

Our SHINE partnership is made up of 5 dedicated and local VCSE organisations based across East Riding, most of whom we’ve collaborated with successfully on previous partnership projects, including Thriving at Work and Action Towards Inclusion.

The SHINE partnership will provide 1-2-1 tailored advice, mentoring and employability support, designed to help break down barriers. This combination of support is designed to improve people’s health, confidence, skills, and circumstances, moving them closer towards a position where they can progress and thrive in their lives and work.

Launch Event

On the 22nd of May 2024, we brought the SHINE partnership together at Cottingham’s Lazaat Hotel for an event to launch our new programme. We introduced the programme model, talked all things SHINE, and offered our partners the floor to introduce themselves and their organisations.

Who are our partners?

Impact Coordinator

A keen storyteller & collaborator, Laura works alongside Hannah as the Impact Coordinator, where she measures and highlights the impact of Better Connect across its business, programmes, and partnerships. She does so by working with a range of people to gather information and stories, which she then translates into engaging content across Better Connect’s channels.

Building relationships is a large part of Laura’s role, alongside ensuring the ‘’Better Connect story’’ is woven throughout all communications.

Laura’s favourite part of the role is connecting with the faces behind the case studies and giving voice to their experiences.
