The Better Connect team are excited to officially launch our Impact Report!

Back in July our Impact Team began the process of collaborating with Research Retold on bringing the impact of our projects, alongside our brand and story to life! We’re delighted to share the finished product with you (click below)

Transformation, empowerment and social change: real impact across Yorkshire 

Research Retold were the perfect partner for this process. The team distil and disseminate complex bodies of research and information through engaging visual storytelling, and have worked with a range or organisations from charities, to education and governmental institutions.

At Better Connect, we deal in numbers and quantitative data, but most importantly – in people & communities, a balance the Retold team have helped us reach through a clear visual story.

The process began with an initial proposal meeting with Director and Founder Mihaela Gruia and her team. We talked about Better Connect’s background, our unique partnership model, the incredible work of our partners, data, figures, and most importantly, our Yorkshire-based mission- ‘’creating a Yorkshire where everyone can thrive in their lives and work’’. It was essential for the team to understand what we do and how we do it, as this informed the report’s tonal and design direction.

We then completed an audience questionnaire, collected a range of data from the team, and conducted a deep dive across our historic and current projects. We even talked calculating Social Value and the ‘Ripple Effect’ with not-for-profit Inspire North. We then submitted our draft text which Research Retold later edited and reimagined, and we collaborated across several feedback sessions to finalise the wording and structure before it was time to start the visual design process.

Cultivating the right look and feel for the report was an exciting process. We played with colour, graphics, wording, and began deconstructing our brand onto the report’s pages, learning about ourselves and recalibrating our values in the process. Mihaela & the team even worked on creating a sentence which spans across the top of each page and guides the reader through the report.

Our Impact Report feels very much like a celebration of us, and highlights the incredible work of our partners. A big thank you to everyone who contributed, and to Research Retold for bringing our programmes to life and creating such a wonderful document.
