Setting up your new Better Connect Email

What are we doing

As part of the Better Connect rebrand, we need to make the transition over to using our new email addresses: xxx@betterconnect.org.uk

As our computer logins are tied to our yourconsortium.org email address, this does leave some scope for things to break but when testing, it seems that any issues that arise are not hard to fix.
Don’t worry, if someone emails you on your old email address, you will still receive the email, when you next respond it will be from betterconnect.org.uk.

After your email address has been changed

After your email address has been changed (happening on the evening of the 20th of July), next time you log in you may need to use your new email address as your username.
It is the same as your old email but with just @betterconnect.org.uk at the end rather than @betterconnect.org.uk.

Once logged in, OneDrive may pop up to say that it is not logged in, click “login” and use your new email address and old password to login (if you don’t know your password, Sam, Alex or Chris V will be able to assist with resetting).

Setting up Outlook

Before sending emails with your new @betterconnect.org.uk email, you must setup a new Outlook profile.
This is a little tricky if you haven’t done it before but hopefully, these screenshots help:

  1. Open Outlook
  2. Click file, on the top left
  3. From “Account Settings” select “Manage Profiles”
  4. Select “Show Profiles”
  5. Click “Add”
  6. Enter the profile name “Better Connect” and click Ok
  7. Click next on the account setup, it should autofill these details
  8. And once it has finished creating the profile, click finish
  9. At the bottom, select your new Better Connect profile from the  “Always use this profile” dropdown, press Apply.
  10. Close and open Outlook, it may take a while to start
  11. Once outlook opens, you should see your new email at the side

Notes

  • Calendars and older emails may take a while to redownload if you are on a slower internet connection
  • You will need to setup your email signature, details of the new email signature will be sent around by Sam
  • If your emails stop working on your phone, remove the email account and re-add it using your new @betterconnect.org.uk email as the username
