Mindful Photography UK – New Rise2Thrive Partner

Mindful Photography UK – New Rise2Thrive Partner

We’ve recently launched a new programme for the people of York and North Yorkshire – have you heard? Following the success of our RISE programme, Rise2Thrive (R2T) is the new iteration, with new partners and a mission to support individuals at all stages of their employment journey to boot.

33 partners strong, we’ve collaborated with many of our R2T partner organisations before on various different programmes since our 2007 inception.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be introducing our new Rise2Thrive partners and diving into what they’re offering on the programme.

This week we’re excited to introduce Mindful Photography UK.

When was the last time you actually felt the texture of a wall, breathed in the smell of a woodland or just sat and truly listened to the sound of the sea or birdsong?

Mindful Photography encourages you to do this and make a lasting and meaningful change in your life. When the senses are more engaged, you can start to take more notice and slow down.

What is therapeutic photography?

Mindful Photography forms part of a wider process called Therapeutic Photography where you can explore more about yourself in a safe and structured way.  Therapeutic sessions are a way to increase self-knowledge, self-esteem, self-efficacy and resilience in an effective and accessible way.

Rise2Thrive and Mindful Photography

Rebecca, founder of Mindful Photography UK, works alongside individuals, groups and organisations facilitating photography projects to support wellbeing. She is now delivering interventions as part of the Rise2Thrive programme to participants.

We had the pleasure of attending an exhibition in Scarborough that featured some of the work Rebecca had done with participants. One of the participants on Rebecca’s previous project shared, It has been amazing to learn about photography and it has helped me with my mental health so much. I have learnt how to slow down and pay attention more!”

We can’t wait to see some of the amazing work produced on the Rise2Thrive project and have no doubt that Mindful Photography UK will be a fantastic addition to the partnership.
